EXPERIMENTAL STUDIES OF THE ELECTROMAGNETIC TRANSITIONS FROM THE FIRST EXCITED STATES IN Hf$sup 177$, Lu$sup 175$ AND Lu$sup 17$$sup 7$

The lifetimes of the first excited states of Hf/sup 177/, Lu/sup 175/, and Lu/sup 177/ were measured by the delayed coincidence technique. In Lu/sup 177/ the energies of the transitions from first and second excited states to the ground state were remeasured and the L/sub I/ + L/sub II/(/L/sub III/ ratio for the 122 kev transition was determined. The properties of the three transitions treated are discussed in terms of the unified model. The possibility that the conversion coefficient for the 113 kev transition in Hf/sup 177/ is affected by nuclear structure effects is considered. (auth)
