THE NUCLEAR PROPERTIES OF RHENIUM. Quarterly Technical Progress Report No. 11, June 8, 1962 through September 8, 1962

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:4719551
A complete decay scheme of Re/sup 184/ and Re/sup 184*/ (2.2 day) based on the coilective model is proposed. Based on that scheme the Re/sup 185/ (n,2n)Re/sup 184/ cross section reported in the previous report was recalcuiated to be 1.91 plus or minus 0.6 barns. Furthermore, the cross section for the Re/ sup 185/(n,2n)Re/sup 184*/ reaction was found to be 1.12 plus or minus 0.4 barns. The Re(n,p)W cross section for 14.1-Mev neutrons was calculated to be 32.2 millibarns. This value is not exact but it seems to be about the right order of magnitude. Possible excited states of Au/sup 196/ were calculated by using the shell model. (auth)
