Six zone-refining passes were made on a bar of directiy consolidated distilled beryllium. Three consolidation passes were completed on two sets of cold compacts of flake beryllium for impurity addition studies, Resistance ratio measurements and chemical analyses were obtained on specimens from a completed crystal which contained iron as an impurity addition. The fabricability of extruded alioys of refractory materials is being studied. Rolling and swaging of Ta, Ta--Ru, and Nb--Re were investigated. Hardness values are presented for Mo, Mo-Os, Mo--Re, Mo-- Hf, Mo--Re--Hf, Ta, Ta--W, Ta--Re, and Ta-- Re--W. Efforts were cortinued to achieve satisfactory pouring and shooting of molten uranium. Tungsten tubing was extruded for testing. (M.C.G.)
