Title: ZIRCALOY CLADDING THICKNESS TESTER (Engineering Materials)

The eddy current tester will measure Zircaloy over uranium metal in the range of 5 to 25 milg, Zircaloy over UO/sub 2/ in the range of 20 to 40 mils, and the wall thickness of Zircaloy tubes in the range of 20 to 40 mils. The thickness is measured with an accuracy of 1 mil. Probes may be used on tubes with inside diameters ranging from 0.66 to 1.70 in. and outside diameters ranging from 1.02 to 2.50 in. The tester rnay also be used for spot measurements with hand-held probes, or a continuous scan of the tubes may be made by mounting the probes on a mechanical feeder. Sensitivity of the instrument to changes in probeto-sample spacing not exceeding 4 mils is minimized by Circuit design and probe mounting technique. 50(OTS) (F.L.S.)
