A simple portable Geiger detector is described. The 900 volt stabilized h-v supply for operating the Geiger tube consists of a transistorized blocking oscillator, a two coldcathode tube voltage multiplier circuit, and a corona voltage regulator tube. The counting rate meter circuit employs three transistors and a 50 microamp instrument. Three sensitivities with 10, 50, and 250 counts per second at full scale, approximately equivalent to 0,5, 2,5, and 12,5 milliroentgens per hour, are provided. The power supply consists of a 6 volt dry cell battery with a drain of 16 ma. (auth)
