A technique for producing etch pits in uranium monocarbide was developed and is described. The pits, which are assumed to be associated with dislocations, appear individually and as arrays delineating sub-boundaries. The etchant used was concentrated H/sub 3/PO/sub 4/. Evidence to support the assumption that the pits are associated with dislocations is given. (P.C.H.)
