IMPROVEMENTS IN NUCLEAR REACTORS

Patent ·
OSTI ID:4716814
A reactor is designed in which there is little tendency for the moderator blocks to be lifted by the coolant pressure drop. In the reactor, the coolant inlet chamber is connected through ducts to the lower ends of the fuel channels so that the coolant inlet pressure is not applied to the underside of the core. Horizontal channels are provided between the opposed end faces of the blocks and connecting with vertical channels between the block columns, so that the whole of the moderator structure is subjected to the coolant outlet pressure.
