Rats of both sexes were exposed to 800 r of whole-body irradiation. Six, 12, 24, and 48 hrs after irradiation each animal received an intraperitoneal injection of 10 mu c CP³²O₄ in aqueous solution. 24 hrs later the animals were sacrificed, and 1 g of liver was dried, ashed, and measured. No significant variation was found for the 6-hr group. The maximum deviation was found for the 12-hr group with 28% increase of incorporated phosphate. Incorporation was almost as high for the 24-hr group. In the 48-hr group the deviation decreased to a 16% rise. (J.S.R.)
