CHANGES IN THE RETINAL INTERMEDIATE SUBSTANCE AND CERTAIN HISTOCHEMICAL SHIFTS IN RADIATION SICKNESS (in Russian)

Journal Article · · Dokl. Akad. Nauk Azerb. SSR
OSTI ID:4714894
The pathological effects of radiation sickness on the argyrophile laminar substance in the eyes of animals were studied using 35 rabbits and 20 dogs exposed to single doses of 792 and 692 r, respectively. The diagnosis was based on clinical, hematological, and pathologicalanatomical analyses. It was observed that at various stages of injury vitamin C and glucogen contents vary in various sections of the retina. Especially noticeable was an irregular thickening in the back and sides of retina. The laminar structure was impaired (especially the exterior), and various lumps and grains were exhibited Pictures of examined tissues showing increased and weakened argyrophile response in the rodecone layer are shown.
