THE GENETIC RELATION BETWEEN THE ISOMERIC STATES OF Ho$sup 16$$sup 0$ (in Russian)
An attempt was made to prove that the 4.7-hr activity of Ho/sup 160/ goes through the isomeric state which has a half life of 28 min. If Ho/sup 160*/ (T/sub 1/2/ = 4.7 hrs) and up to st r Ho/sup 166/ (Tsub 1/2/ = 2 8 min), the 728-kev gamma ray of Dy/sup 160/ will grow in more slowly if the parent activity Er/sup 160/ is first separated from the holmium activities. Thus, a gamma spectrum of a Er/sup 160/ + Ho/sup 166/ mixture in equilibrium with others was taken on a scintillation gamma spectrometer. The two isomers Ho/sup 160/(T/ sub 1/2/ = 28 min) and Ho/sup 160*/(T/sub 1/2/ = 4.7 hr) were also in equilibrium with each other. Then, the erbium was chromatographically separated from the holmium, and measurements were started 11 minutes after the separation. It was found that the 728-kev gamma transition of Dy/sup 160/ does not follow directly after the decay of the 4.7-hr holmium activity, but the half life of the ground state of Ho/sup 166/ could not be determined from the available data.
