QUANTITATIVE SEPARATION OF THORIUM AND TITANIUM BY AN ION EXCHANGE CHROMATOGRAPHIC METHOD (in Russian)

Journal Article · · Zh. Analit. Khim.
OSTI ID:4713024
A study was made of the possibility of separating Th from Ti by an ion exchange chromatographic method in the presence of H/sub 2/O/sub 2/ and HCl. It was established that Th is quantitatively sorbed on a cationite in the presence of 3 to 4 N HCl and H/sub 2/O/sub 2/, whereas Ti goes into the filtrate as a yellow complex (TiO(H/sub 2/O/sub 2/)! . Various eluents for Th extraction from the ion exchange resin were tested, and it was established that Th may be completely desorbed with ammonium oxalate, practically at any concentration (above 0.1M). It was shown that Th desorption with ammonium oxalate goes on owing to the formation of a complex ion
