In an earlier work (At. Ener. (USSR), 9: 470(1960)) a method was given for the calculation of the efficiency of a partially inserted cylindrical absorber rod in the center of the reactor. This method also permits a relatively simple estimation of the variation of the neutron flux density in the vicinity of the rod. The method is extended to a rod in an eccentric position. (tr-auth)
