IRRADIATED, CROSS-LINKED POLYETHYLENE COPOLYMER

Patent ·
OSTI ID:4712689
Irradiation of polyethylene in the presence of other nonpolar or slightiy polar polymers or ethylenically unsaturated monomers produces cross- linked polymers with greater rigidity, strength and heat resistance. Polymers of isobutylene can be used with particular advantages. Radiation of at least 750 kev and at a dosage of at least 2 x 10/sup 6/ REP is used. (D.C.W.)
