RADIOPROBING OF A PLASMA MOVING IN A DIRECTION OPPOSITE TO THE ELECTRODYNAMIC ACCELERATION IN A COAXIAL ACCELERATOR (in Russian)

The ratio of the number of charged particles moving in a direction opposite to the electrodynamic acceleration in a pulsed coaxial accelerator to the number of charged particles moving in the direction of acceleration was determined. Two radio wave signals were used simultaneously for probing. The two wavelengths were 0.8 and 3.0 cm. The recorded signals were displayed on an oscillograph. In the acceleration direction a concentration of greater than 10/ sup 13/ electrons/cm/sup 3/ was measured; the time of traversal was found to be 80 microseconds and the velocity of the plasma clots was measured to be 10/sup 7/ cm/sec. In the opposite direction, the concentration was 10/sup 12/ electrons/ cm/sup 3/, the traversal time was 40 microseconds, and the velocity was 7 x 10/ sup 6/ cm/sec. From these measurements it was determined that the number of particles moving in the opposite direction was less than or equal to 2% of the number moving with the direction of acceleration. (TTT)
