APPLICATION OF AUTORADIOGRAPHY TO THE INVESTIGATION OF THE STRUCTURE OF ALLOYS (in German)

Journal Article · · Isotopen Tech.
OSTI ID:4711719
The structure of alloys can be tested by the addition of radioactive nuclides to the melt or by the production of radioisotopes with neutron irradiation. With this method one can obtain data on the distribution of elements in the individual structure constituents. The decisive criterion for the utility of the method is its sensitivity. This sensitivity is dependent on the specific activity of the radioisotopes present. In this connection, the sensitivities for the case of radioisotope introduction into the melt and the case of activation are given. Economically the calculation for the exposure time for the autoradiogram is of great significance. Therefore the principles for calculating exposure time for various radioisotopes were given. Some examples of structure determination were given. (tr-auth)
