INDEPENDENT LOOP OF A SWIMMING POOL REACTOR FOR EXAMINING THE PROPERTIES OF MATERIALS UNDER IRRADIATION

This loop is immersed in the pool and has a cooling circuit comprising a circulating pump, a heat exchanger, the experimental channel with its thermal insulation, and a reflector arranged on the outside of it. The whole loop installation is mounted on a carriage traveling on an adjustable console mounted on the side walls or on the bottom of the pool. Said heat exchanger has a tube bank over which flows the pool water in forced or in natural circulation. The said thermal insulation is suitably constituted by an annular space comprised between concentric tubes and filled with a stagnant fluid. The experimental channel which is vertically arranged has at its top a closure plug supporting a basket, containing the material under examination and being fixed to the channel end with a fast-locking device.
