MAGNETIC-FIELD SPARK CHAMBERS

Journal Article · · Nucl. Instr. Methods

A 128-gap spark chamber was constructed with thin plates, 3-mm spacing, and a voiume of 30 x 30 x 60 cm. The chamber is operated in a 40-ton magnet designed for 18 kG. By adding about 1/4% SO/sub 2/ to the neon filling, a clearing time was estabiished in the chamber without a clearing field. (A.G.W.)
