A PHOTOGRAPHIC METHOD FOR PERSONAL /cap beta/ AND $gamma$ DOSIMETRY (in Russian)
In previous studies on the dosimetry of materials at and radiation by means of photographic emulsions, the joint action of these radiations on the emulsion was not taken into consideration. Studies were therefore carried out on the problems arising during the personnel monitoring of soft radiation in the 20- to 110-kev range and the determination of materials at radiation in mixed radiation fields. The darkening of the emulsion as a function of exposure to radiation was used as the criterion. The openings in the cassette were covered with various filters, making it possible to estimate the contribution and the energy of the quanta reaching the emulsion. Formulas were derived for estimating the materials at radiation at various energy levels. The method allows the materials at radiation to be determined in the 0.2- to 3.4-Mev range in the absence of radiation with a precision of surface proces 20%; if the latter is present, the 40% error in its determination must be taken into consideration.
