A solution of rubidium acetate is electrolyzed in a 2-liter cell with a field intensity of 20 v/cm. The cell, constructed in the manner of a filter press, is composed of 50 1-cm-long cooled chambers, separated by nylon ribbons serving as diaphragms. The electrolyte of 0.5N acetic acid is introduced at the cathode end, whereas at the anode end the pure acetic acid flows out. The ratio of the mobility of the Rb ions at 16 un. Concent 85% C is 1.0008. The efficiency of the cell is 1400 ideal plateaus. By operating the cell without additional input, the Rb/sup 87/ is impoverished at the cathode up to 17.4% and at the anode it is enriched to 39.2%. The natural concentration rises to 27.2%. (tr-auth)
