STUDY OF THE REACTION N$sup 14$(He$sup 3$,p)O$sup 16$ AT 2.5 TO 5.5 Mev (in French)

Journal Article · · Nuclear Physics (Netherlands) Divided into Nucl. Phys. A and Nucl. Phys. B
The excitation curves for the ground state proton group p/sub 0/ from the reaction N/sup 14/(He/sup 3/,p)O/sup 16/ were measured at 30 E, 90 deg , and 150 deg between 2.5 and 5.5 Mev. These curves exhibit no resonance, thus suggesting a direct interaction mechanism. Anguiar distributions between 0 deg and 150 deg were determined at 2.5, 3.5, 4.5, and 5.5 Mev for the p/sub 0/ proton group and at 4.5 and 5.5 Mev for the p/sub 1,2/ and p/sub 5/ proton groups. The forward peak in the angular distributions of the p/sub 0/ proton group at 3.5, 4.5, and 5.5 Mev and of the p/sub 5/ proton group at 4.5 and 5.5 Mev was fitted by theoretical curves derived from Newns theory for double stripping processes. The differential cross-sections, in these cases, also rise in the backward direction. This increase may be due to heavy particle'' stripping or to the wave distortions produced by the Coulomb and nuciear forces. (auth)
