A METHOD FOR THE OUTLET OF PARTICLES IN A CYCLIC ACCELERATOR
A schematic design of a device for displacing electrons from an equilibrium orbit in a betatron is proposed. The device can be utilized when the betatron is provided with so-called stabilizing windings, one of which is located within the equilibrium orbit, and the second (divided into the upper and lower part) is outside this orbit, and both windings are connected in parallel. At a definite phase of betatron magnetic cycle the circuit of stabilizing windings is broken (by means of a rotation synchronous switch), and the capacitor is discharged through both coils. As a result, electrons are displaced from the equilibrium orbit; depending on the polarity of voltage in the capacitor it is possible to displace electrons either inwards or outwards relative to the orbit. The capacitor is charged with voltage induced in the stabilizing winding. For this purpose, a rectifier or the second synchronous switch is used. (Referativnyy Zhurnal, Fiyika, No. 5, 1962).
