PROPOSAL FOR A 10 Bev HIGH INTENSITY ACCELERATOR

Cost estimates, design, operational principles, and results of design studies are given for a proposed 10-Bev proton spiral-sector fixed-field alternating-gradient accelerator that could produce over 10/sup 15/ high-energy protons/sec. Calculations of orbits, particle yields, resultant radiation levels, shielding requirements, and magnetic field are discussed, and achievements of small prototype (400 kev and 50 Mev) accelerators are reviewed. 60 references.
