BS>Construction and operation of an analyzer that provides both mass and energy resolutions of ion beams is discussed. This analyzer consists of a double- pulse generator that pulses the ion source and gates'' the electron multiplier detector output, and a multiple slit system for scanning'' the electrostatically analyzed ion beam. A schematic diagram of the electrostatic analyzer with timeof-flight circuitry is presented. (H.G.G.)
