DETERMINATION OF THE END-POINT ENERGY OF BETA EMITTERS

Journal Article · · J. Sci. Ind. Res. (India)
OSTI ID:4703554
A method is described for the determination of the endpoint energy of beta emitters. Mass coefficients (u/p) for elements Pt, Au, and Pb with high atomic numbers as absorbers, and W/sup 185/, Tl/sup 204/, Y/sup 91/, P/sup 32/, and Sr/sup 90/--Y/su p 90/ as sources were measured. Tables of the obtained mass absorption coefficients for the absorbers and emitters and the computed and experimental end point values in Mev show good agreement with previous data. However, the results from Au are better than those of Pt and Pb. The method is applicable also to very weak BETA emttters and gives the E/sub 0/ values with an accuracy of 3%. (TCO)
