IMPROVEMENTS IN OR RELATING TO ORGANIC LIQUID MODERATED AND COOLED NUCLEAR REACTORS

Patent ·
OSTI ID:4703112
An arrangement in which organic liquid cooled and moderated reactors using terphenyls would have two separate liquid circuits passing through the core is described. One circuit of terphenyl having a 50% content of the high molecular weight substances formed in terphenyi by irradiation would serve as the moderator while the other (coolant) circuit would contain 30% of the heavier substances, thereby lowering pumping power requirements on this circuit.
