The similarity that exists between the deuteron form factor and the off- the-mass-shell neutron-proton scattering amplitude when final state neutron- proton interactions are accounted for in the impulse approximation for the inelastic scattering of a particle by a deuteron is discussed. The lappmann- Schwinger integral equation for the two-nucleon wave function in the final state and the reciprocity and space reflection invariance properties of Green's function are used in the derivations.
