Nonadiabatic effects in inelastic scattering by deuterons

A method is proposed for studying nonadiabatic effects in inelastic scattering by deuterons. The method is based on the use of the spectral representation of the two-nucleon Green's function. It is shown that the terms in the amplitude which are due to the recoil and rescattering of nucleons and to the off-energy-shell effects essentially cancel. The kinematical region in which this cancellation occurs is found and the parameters characterizing the degree of the cancellation are written down.
