STEADY-STATE CHARACTERISTICS OF GAS-LUBRICATED, SELF-ACTING, PARTIALARC, JOURNAL BEARINGS OF FINITE WIDTH. Interim Report

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:4701185

A solution of the problem of self-acting, gas-lubricated, partial-arc, finite-length journal bearings for steady-state conditions is described. The results can be used for bearings of many types such as simple, fixed, partial-arc journal boarings (tapered land); axial-grooved journal bearings; pivoted-pad journal bearings; and similar geometric shapes. Sample results are plotted, and their utilization for various bearing types is illustrated by examples. (auth)
