PERTURBATION ANALYSIS OF THE STABILITY OF SELF-ACTING, GAS-LUBRICATED JOURNAL BEARINGS. Interim Report

OSTI ID:4179518
The dynamics of a gas-lubricated journal bearing are studied by using Reynold"s equation and the Lagrangian equations of motion. This system of equations is then linearized by the perturbation method. The stability of the bearing is then investigated by studying the location in the complex plane of the roots of the characteristic determinant of the solution of the system of governing equations.
