STRONG BOND AND EXCHANGE TAKEN INTO ACCOUNT IN THE COLLISIONS OF ELECTRONS WITH HYDROGEN ATOMS

Journal Article · · Opt. Spectry. (USSR) (English Transl.)
OSTI ID:4701081
Collision cross sections are calculated with the total orbital angular momentum L = 0 and with exchange and the bonds between the 1s, 2s, and 2p levels taken into account. When exchange is taken into account, taking the strong bond into consideration increases sigma /sub 1s-2p/ close to the threshold and decreases with high energies; sigma /sub 1s-2p/ is increased over the entire interval of energies. Taking exchange into account decreases both cross sections considerably as compared with calculations without exchange. Exchange and interference cross sections are practically equal for excitations. Direct, exchange, interference, and averaged couplings for L = 0 are tabulated. (P.C.H.)
