ABSOLUTE MEASUREMENT OF X-RAY BREMSSTRAHLUNG CROSS SECTIONS

Thesis/Dissertation ·
OSTI ID:4700048
The differential cross section for the production of bremsstrahlung by electrons with energies of 95 and 180 kev was measured with a scintillation spectrometer. Al/sub 2/O/sub 3/ and Au targets were used. A comparison with a theory using Born's approximation demonstrates that the Coulomb correction depends strongly on the angle even for low quantum energies. The differential cross section in regard to energy and the total cross section for radiative energy ioss can be explained theoretically. (Gmelin Inst.)
