EXCITATION FUNCTIONS AND ANGULAR DISTRIBUTIONS OF /cap alpha/ PARTICLES FROM PROTON BOMBARDMENT OF $sup 26$Mg

Journal Article · · Nuclear Physics (Netherlands) Divided into Nucl. Phys. A and Nucl. Phys. B
Excitation functions of alpha particles leading to the ground and first excited states of Na/sup 23/ are measured at laboratory angles of 90 and 135 deg over the proton energy range 6.0 to 9.0 Mev. These functions are consistent with a number of resonances in the compound nucleus Al/sup 27/these resonances are tabulated in terms of incident proton energies. Angular distributions of the two alpha particle groups are measured in proton energy steps of 15 kev in the ranges 6.390 to 6.645 Mev and 8.70 to 8.91 Mev. A least- squares fit of the distributions as functions of Legendre polynomials is carried out. (auth)
