An EPA approved NESHAP-radionuclide emission monitoring plan for new waste management facilities at the Savannah River Site
- Westinghouse Savannah River Company, Aiken, SC (United States)
The Radiological Chemistry Group of the Environmental Technology Section (ETS), Savannah River Technology Center (SRTC), maintains the ability to monitor filterable and nonfilterable radionuclide emissions. This emission monitoring is to determine compliance with the National Emission Standards for Hazardous Air Pollutants (NESHAP)-radionuclide standards promulgated at 40 Code of Federal Regulations 61, Subpart H. The Environmental Protection Agency preapproved the SRTC/ETS NESHAP-radionuclide emission monitoring plan for three new facilities at the Savannah River Site (SRS). NESHAP-radionuclide emission monitoring began within 90 days after each facility`s startup. Separate samples were collected for particulates, tritium oxide and radioiodine during continuous three week collection periods at each facility designated release point.
