EVALUATION OF UNEXPECTEDLY LARGE RADIATION EXPOSURES BY MEANS OF PHOTOGRAPHIC FILM

Technical Report ·
DOI:https://doi.org/10.2172/4696405· OSTI ID:4696405
Conventional film types used in personnel-monitoring film badges are suitable for measuring x- and gamma -radiation exposures only up to 1000 r. By using special processing procedures, it is possible to extend the range of the lesssensitive component of most commercial fllm packets up to at least 10,000 r. Limitations in precision of readings from changes in rate dependence, energy dependence, and changes in the shape of the characteristic curve in this range are discussed. (auth)
