IMPROVING PERFORMANCE OF STAINLESS STEEL-UO$sub 2$ CERMET FUELS

Journal Article · · Nucleonics (U.S.) Ceased publication
OSTI ID:4696086
The influence of materials--their size, form, and fabrication methods-- on the life and reliability of stainless steel-UO/sub 2/ cermet fuels are discussed. Uniform dispersion of UO/sub 2/ particles in a deformation-resisting matrix is noted to give improved fuel element properties. Techniques that lead to improved fuels are described, and results of tests showing the improvement of fuel elements are given. (D.C.W.)
