ANNEALING OF RADIATION DAMAGE IN QUARTZ PRIMARY CRYSTALS (in German)

Journal Article · · Phys. Chem. Solids
Quartz crystal plates (AT-cut) were irradiated by x rays up to 6 x 10/ sup 6/ rad absorbed dose and showed the frequency decrease with saturation character already known. This decrease of the resonance frequency induced by radiation damage in the crystal was annealed at temperatures in the range from 150 to 250 un. Concent 85% C. The activation energy of the traps responsible for the change of frequency can be computed from the temperature dependence of the annealing curves. The experimental values are reproduced by two forms of traps with activation energies of E/sub 1/ = 0.3 450 deg C in a 0.1 ev and E/sub 2/ = 1.3 450 deg C in a 0.3 ev. (auth)
