HIGHLY NEGATIVE REACTIVITY MEASUREMENT USING PSEUDO-RANDOM SOURCE EXCITATION AND CROSS-CORRELATION

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:4695295
An experimental investigation of reactivity measurement in the far subcritical range is presented. Reactivity is measured by a digitai cross correlation technique, wherein the input to the system is a neutron source, electronically modulated by a pseudo-random square wave, and the output is the neutron counting rate. The experiments show that the method is feasible, although further equipment refinement is necessary to improve precision. (auth)
