A remote manipulating arrangement, which enables several active cells to be served by a limited number of manipulators, is patented. The installation could consist of a single manipulator, but two manipulators, one for light work and one ior heavy work, are preferred. The cells are aligned, and each has a door opening on to a common corridor. A manipulator is supported by a transfer turret, which is moved along the corridor and into the cells by a gantry on guideways. The gantry, turret, and manipulator are driven by electric motors via flexible cables, which extend from a point in the corridor to the gantry and from the gantry to the manipulator. (M.P.G.)
