Neutron irradiated Te/sup 130/O/sub 2/, containing I/sup 131/ through decay of Te/sup 131/ is dissolved in 10% NaOH to give a 6-7% solution of the alkali tellurite. The tellurite is then oxidized to tellurate with H/sub 2/O/sub 2/ and Na/sub 2/MoO/sub 4/, the solution is acidifi ed, and the I/sup 131/ distilled. A scheme of the separation apparatus is given.
