A method is described for increasing the efficiency of rocket-type nuclear power plants. A rocket reactor with a controlled oscillating flow of the fluid propellant, which is being heated in the reactor, is considered. The propulsion device has a nuclear reactor core located in a heatadding chamber. The propellant is pumped through pas sages in the core for heating and pulsations are induced in the flow to increase the relative heat-transfer coefficient. (M.C.G.)
