For irradiation inside a nuclear reactor, a sample container is provided comprising a tubular casing fluid-tightclosed by a cover. The sample is supported in a refractory inner casing forming annular interspaces between the outer and the inner casing and the inner casing and the sample. This inner casing has lateral openings in the proximities of its upper and lower end. The innermost of the annular interspaces encloses a heater element that controls the temperature of the sample onto which thermocouples are fixed. Fluid-tight bushings are provided in the cover for the passage of conductors and fluid lines. (IIB)
