THE POLARIZATION OF PROTONS RECOILING FROM $pi$$sup +$+p COLLISIONS AT 265 Mev

Journal Article · · Nuovo Cimento (Italy) Divided into Nuovo Cimento A and Nuovo Cimento B
OSTI ID:4688615

The polarization of protons recoiling at 23 deg in the laboratory from pi /sup +/ + p elastic collisions at 265 Mev was measured using carbon as an analyzer, together with a system of large directional counters. The polarization was found to be --0.11 plus or minus 0.007. The inclusion of these data with existing information on differential and total cross sections at this energy strengthens the case for the inclusion of D-waves in a phase-shift analysis at this energy.
