FAST SCALING CIRCUIT
A fast scaler with a large storage capacity was developed in order to fulfil the requirements for a random counting rate of 10/sup 5//sec with a capacity of 10/sup 9/. In this scaler, pulses from the alpha counter drive a fast trigger circuit to produce pulses which are presented to one input of a fast coincidence unit. Standard pulses are fed at a constant rate to the other input. The output is coupled to a conventional Dekatron scaling unit. The overall resolving time and scaling factor were found to be 145 nsec and 552, respectively. (D.L.C.)
