COMPARATIVE INVESTIGATION OF THE BEHAVIOR OF NIOBIUM, TANTALUM, AND PROTACTINIUM ON ION EXCHANGERS (in German)

Journal Article · · Radiochimica Acta (West Germany)
OSTI ID:4686135
The behavior of several acidic solutions of niobium, tantalum, and protactinium in ion exchangers was studied at different acid concentrations, temperatures, and degrees of cross-linking in the exchanger. The results show that aqueous solutions of Pa(V) behave more regularly than those of Nb(V) and Ta(V). Pa tends less to hydrolysis in aqueous solution than Nb and Ta. A cation exchanger adsorbs the negative ionic species of Nb(V), Ta(V), and Pa(V) with partition coefficients only little smaller than those in an anion exchanger. For several exchange reactions of Pa(V) the enthalpy, entropy, and free energy values were calculated. (auth)
