NEW FORMULATION OF THE STATISTICAL THEORY OF MULTIPLE PARTICLE PRODUCTION

Using the angular momentum representation for relativistic particles, a formulation of Fermi model is given in which the conservation of total energy, momentum, and angular momentum are taken into account along with other symmetries. A transition probability for arbitrary reaction is expressed in terms of new quantum numbers. Then a formulation of the Fermi model and final formulas for transition probability are given. A second possible approach to the statistical theory of multiple particle production is outlined. Some applications are discussed. (M.C.G.)
