The fuel element, the temperature of which is to be measured by means of a built-in thermocouple, is suspended from a separate support member with spring- loaded spider arms that engage a transversal groove in the moderator channel. The thermocouple leads are connected with two spring-loaded electrical contact members on the said support member, the contact members contacting second contact members that are fixed in said groove and that are connected with the measuring instrument.
