IMPROVEMENTS RELATING TO REACTORS WORKING WITH A BOILING COOLANT, ESPECIALLY WITH BOILING WATER

Patent ·
OSTI ID:4685035
A nuclear reactor cooled by a boiling liquid has several vertically disposed regions separated from each other with respect to the coolant flow, the coolant fiowing in each region from the bottom to the top. The regions are connected in series so that the liquid phase of the coolant passes first the regions with the highest power density and then successively the other regions in the sequence of decreasing power density. Each region is succeeded by means for separating the vapor from the liquid that is afterwards introduced to the following region. Liquid circulation is maintained by a pump at the entrance of the central region. (IIB)
