RADIOLYSIS OF BIPHENYL--IDENTIFICATION OF RADIOLYTIC POLYPHENYLS BY REVERSE ISOTOPE DILUTION ANALYSIS (in Japanese)

Journal Article · · Proc. Japan Conf. Radioisotopes
OSTI ID:4684263
In order to obtain information concerning the radiolytic mechanism of biphenyl, reverse isotope dilution analysis was applied to determine the yields of its radiolytic products. Biphenyl-(phenyl C/sup 14/) was irradiated in vacuum at 100 plus or minus 5 deg C by gamma rays (2.02 x 10/sup 5/ r,/hr. 150 hr). After irradiation, the products were separated by column chromatography and purified by recrystallization. Activity of the products was determined. Only the yields of terphenyls and quaterphenyls were determined. (T.F.H.)
