BURST SLUG DETECTION DEVICE ADAPTED FOR AN INDEPENDENT LOOP DISPOSED INSIDE A NUCLEAR REACTOR

Burst-slug detection systems are known comprising a cylindrical electrode onto which ionized daughters of shortlived fission products are precipitated and afterwards are brought in front of a scintillation counter by a rotation of this electrode. It is shown that the surface of the electrode additionally shows at least one cavity adapted to enclose, together with the casing of the electrode, a given volume of the carrier gas from which the daughter products are prccipitated and to bring it in front of the scintillation counter. In this way the measurement may be performed on the concentration of long-lived fission products. (IIB)
