EXPERIMENTAL GAS COOLED REACTOR. STUDY II-650. PLANT CONTROL ANALYSIS
A study was made to select a plant control system for the EGCR and to demonstrate the adequacy of the selected system by analog computer analysis. The reactor will operate both as ann experimental facility and as a loadfollowing power plant. The control system must satisfy the following criteria: the maximum rate of change of fuelclad temperature for normal operation and controlled changes shall not exceed 2.5 deg F/sec; fuel-temperature coefficient is negative; steam pressure and temperature at turbine must be maintained at 1265, +35, --60 psia and 903, band of plus or minus 10% during controlled maneuvers without interference from the safety system; the plant must be able to compensate for load chandges at a rate of plus or minus 10%/min, normal and plus or minus 20%/min, maximum; and reactor outlet coolant temperature must not exceed 1150 deg F. Results are presented in diagrams and graphs. (M.C.G.)
